• The Institute of Earth Sciences Jaume Almera (IJA) belongs to the Spanish Research Council (CSIC). It was set up in 1965 and is located at the University Campus of Pedralbes in Barcelona.

• The activity of the ICTJA is undertaken on four Research Lines:

• Earth's Structure and Dynamics.
• Environmental Changes in the Geological Record.
• Geophysical and Geochemical Modelling.
• Crystallography and Optical Properties.

• The research activity is developed through the execution of contracts with public and private companies, and competitive research projects funded by the Catalan and the Spanish governments and the European Union.
